What's In It Wednesday
Every Wednesday we'll bring you "What's In It Wednesday". A blog about what's in typical bath and beauty products, including the good, the bad and the ugly. We want you to know what we use or don't use in our products and why!
This week's ingredient is PEG-7 Glycerol Cocoate. This ingredient is also from the bottle of generic hand soap I found under the sink that I've been working on all summer (there are still a few ingredients left). PEG-7 is a skin conditioner, surfactant, and emulsifier. It dissolves things into water that wouldn't normally mix well. It also allows water and oil to mix so that oils can be removed from the skin. This is not a natural ingredient and is not supposed to be used on injured or damages skin (even though it is often used in cosmetics and diaper rash creme). This is another ingredient best avoided.
